Don’t get it wrong, the concept behind this fruit-n-clock arrangement is exceptionally useful and informative. If you like to encourage your child to make discoveries, then this clock can turn out to be an amazing ally. All you need is a fresh fruit or a vegetable at your house to initiate this experimental process of a fruit-powered-clock or better a ‘fruity clock’? The clock and its chords are all dismantled and there is a provision of an operating manual which will guide you in assembling it and in the meantime, teach you how the entire system works. I don’t think it is just suitable for kids, as I wonder exactly how many adults know how a clock functions.
This idea is based on the experience of Alessandro Volta, the Italian physicist renowned for inventing the electric battery in 1800. Well, have to accept that it is surely an interesting and helpful display of time, and an educational one for the little ones. I was always poor in thermodynamics and hence I am keen to learn the fundamentals behind this. And after an educational session is over, some juicy, fresh fruits won’t harm either!
